M&M-Kissed Pretzels
There are many reasons I love the holiday season – shopping for the perfect gifts, the decorations and lights, Christmas movies and music – but one of the foremost reasons I enjoy the season as much as I do is all the treats I get to make without feeling (too) guilty. I try to do some baking each week so that Evan and I have a constant supply of cookies throughout the month of December, and since I'm baking so often, I like to include some easy treats in the rotation too!
Last year, I made chocolate-caramel pretzels as my easy alternative, and I could have eaten those in a continuous stream. I was tempted to make them again this year, but I decided to go a different sweet-and-salty route and make M&M-Kissed Pretzels instead! I haven't seen these around for years, but I remember my Memaw making them from time to time for us when we would come visit, so in addition to being deliciously simple, they carry a little nostalgia. (Fun fact: the plate you see above was my Memaw's also!)
This is another one of those "recipes" that can hardly be called a recipe, so just let this post serve as a reminder to you that M&M-Kissed Pretzels exist, they're easy and cheap to make, and they're the perfect movie snack for when you get snuggled up to watch White Christmas for the 5th time this year. Oh, that's just me?
M&M-KISSED PRETZELS
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Bake Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
Pretzel Snaps or Rings
Hershey's Kisses
(milk, dark, peppermint, hugs, etc)
M&Ms
(regular, peanut, crispy, etc)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 200F. While the oven preheats, prepare a cookie sheet with either parchment paper or a baking mat, and unwrap the chocolate kisses.
Arrange your pretzels on the baking mat, and top each one with a Hershey's kiss. Place in the oven for about 5 minutes – by then, the kisses will have softened and begun to melt just a little. Remove from the oven, and quickly top each one with an M&M, pressing the M&M down into the melted kiss. Let cool, and enjoy!
(Note: I used the classic Milk Chocolate kisses/M&Ms combination for these, but you can get creative with your chocolate choices!)
Happy Eating,
Natalie
